EARLIER UPDATE -- Below, we previously reported how the prosecution sought back on April 23rd (last Tuesday) to have President Trump held in contempt of court for violating the gag order. Judge Merchan did not decide at the time and reserved the matter. After deliberation and presumably consultation with the White House, Merchan fined President Trump $9,000 for nine violations, and threatened him with jail for future violations, where future violations are inevitable for a presidential candidate that needs to campaign fully during election season.

On Tuesday, [prosecutors will] try to persuade the judge that [President Trump] deserves a more immediate penalty: They want him held in contempt.
The prosecutors say Trump has repeatedly violated a gag order that prohibits him from attacking witnesses, jurors and others involved in the case. Justice Juan Merchan has scheduled a Tuesday morning hearing, outside the presence of the jury, to consider the prosecutors’ arguments.
If Merchan agrees that Trump has defied the gag order, he’ll then face the thorny question of what to do about it. His options range from a sternly worded warning to a modest fine to a short stint in jail.
As we previously reported, Judge Merchan openly violates Judiciary Law 14, a New York law that imposes rules regarding recusal for conflicts of interest. His daughter is a Democrat political operative that raises money attacking President Trump. The Judge runs a kangaroo court where he bars the President from attending the Supreme Court Immunity Hearing Thursday or his son’s graduation, restricts his silent cell phone use, mandates his attendance, gags him during the presidential election – all for a contrived case that ordinarily would be well past the statute of limitations where the 34 alleged felonies for hush money payments relate to the 34 book entries – so each fractional payment is its own felony.
It is unclear whether this Judge suffering Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) would choose to take the unprecedented step and place President Trump in jail. If Judge Merchan avoids this path, he will undoubtedly face a barrage of anger from liberals in his sphere.
Yet, Merchan may seek to reserve this for the end of the case, where he may be in a position to send the President to prison – albeit for a short stint as the NY Appellate court would be forced to rapidly hear the case where the many kangaroos would be hopping mad and expose Merchan’s violations of law and absurdly biased trial.
We will see today whether the Judge exercises the nuclear option. My guess is that he does not have the courage despite the severe TDS and demomic posssession he struggles with.
